Recruiters are often juggling a dozen roles at once, and most hiring platforms slow them down instead of helping. LaborUp wanted to change that. They want to give recruiters a way to find, review, and reach out to candidates fast, without sacrificing thoughtfulness.
I was brought in to redesign the recruiter experience. The goal: reduce friction, surface better matches, and make it easier for recruiters to do what they do best—connect with people.

One of the biggest challenges was giving recruiters just enough information to make decisions—without overwhelming them with data. Too little, and they’d have to dig. Too much, and it would slow them down.
Some of the key decisions we made:
Smart summaries: I redesigned profile cards to highlight the most relevant details—skills, experience, availability—at a glance.
Search that thinks ahead: We reworked filters and search suggestions to guide recruiters toward stronger candidates, even if they didn’t use perfect keywords.
We also had to account for different levels of tech comfort. Some users were experienced sourcers. Others were just getting started. Every screen had to feel simple, even when the logic behind it was complex.
