Integrating Reality Capture Data into Procore's Locations Tool
Procore, a leading construction tech company, was expanding its product to include Track3D—an advanced tool for tracking equipment and assets in real-time on large construction sites. The feature was critical to differentiate the product.
Lead designer of the project
As the lead product designer, my mission was to deliver an intuitive user experience that made complex 3D asset tracking simple and actionable for site managers and field teams. I needed to design a seamless integration within the existing platform, drive cross-team alignment, and ensure we hit an aggressive timeline for launch.
Design prioritization
The team started by running discovery sessions with key users (site managers, safety officers) to uncover how they currently tracked equipment and where 3D visualization could add real value. This research highlighted that users needed quick insights and alerts, not just raw 3D views. To bridge gaps between design and engineering, I: ✔️ Facilitated alignment workshops to define MVP priorities. ✔️ Simplified the interaction model to focus on actionable tasks (e.g., locating assets, checking statuses). ✔️ Worked closely with engineering to ensure feasibility and ran iterative user testing to validate assumptions early—pivoting quickly when needed.
Results
✅ 70% adoption rate within the first quarter.
